Dr Katrin Dreyer-Gibney
Katrin has gained over 30 years of experience in the international service and hospitality industry, higher education, and global shared services, which has allowed her to develop valuable knowledge and insights in these fields. She holds a PhD from Trinity Business School, an MBA from the Open University, and a Business degree from the College of Commerce in Munich, Germany.
Katrin's research and development interests focus on improving practice and advancing theory in sustainable operations management and new service development. She has worked with numerous private and public sector organisations, including Deutsche Bahn, BMW, Hilton International, Hertz, and Trinity College Dublin Operations. Her expertise lies in service innovation, with a specialisation in sustainable new service development in resource-constrained organisations and community settings.
Katrin played a key role in centralising European shared services, contributing to the renewal of university administrative support services, managing the commercialisation of various university services, and operationalising university policies such as emergency planning, risk management, and workplace wellbeing.
Katrin's involvement in coordinating transdisciplinary learning and development events and contributing to innovation for sustainability projects has provided her with invaluable insights into implementing sustainable practices in complex and resource-constrained settings involving diverse stakeholders and transdisciplinary collaboration. This experience has equipped her with the necessary tools to aid organisations and communities in navigating such situations.
Throughout her career, Katrin has combined her academic engagement with practice. In addition to her teaching and research engagement at Trinity Business School, she holds a senior management position in the Trinity Human Resources Department.
